Phansi Ghar Mein Gaye Woh Teenon, Dharti Ma ko Choom Ke; Phir Azadi Ke Gaye Tarane, Phansi Par Bhi Jhoom Ke.

These are lines written by Rohan Verma who claims to be the biggest fan of Bhagat Singh in Modern day India.

India each year celebrates Martyrs Day in memory of Sukhdev, Bhagat Singh and Rajguru.

In Muzaffarnagar’s Kutba, Rohan Verma is a proud man. A man who claims that he has collected everything which is in anyway connected to Bhagat Singh. A man who has a unique penchant to collect items associated with martyrs, he tells us that he has rare artefacts which cannot be found with anyone.

His small house in Gaushala Marg has now turned into a museum, where people from far and wide turn up to get a glimpse of India’s true heroes.

Rohan Verma, the biggest Bhagat Singh Fan tells a leading news agency, “I had goose bumps when I used to see the portrait of Bhagat Singh. I had tears in my eyes when I heard his name. I started doing research on him and then I came to know about him. There will be no one like him and he happily died for country’s independence.”

Rohan interestingly every six months goes to the native village of Bhagat Singh to pay his respects to the valiant martyr who lay down his life. He is now a regular feature on various forums and stages to sing songs and recall the bravado of Bhagat Singh.

He started collecting photos and artefacts of Bhagat Singh 15 years back and this has continued to this day.

Rohan says “I have bought one portrait for Rs 10,000 and I attend every function related to him. My family supports me in this. I have photographs of every revolutionary which you will not find with anyone.”

Among the rare pics that Rohan boasts of having are his collections of Bhagat Singh’s ancestral home. The photo of the broken nib of the pen of the judge who pronounced his sentence.

The photo of the remains of the burnt bodies of the three heroes and many more. Apart from Sukhdev, Bhagat Singh and Rajguru, he has photos of Lala Lajpat Rai, Ramprasad Bismil and Chandrashekhar Azad.

While movies like Rang De Basanti and Bhagat Singh have at different times tried to relive the life and times of the braveheart, signing off Rohan Verma adds, the youth of today should get inspired by these extraordinary lives.
