Lucknow pays an artsy tribute to Bapu on his 150th

On Gandhi Jayanti the whole country celebrated the 150th year of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth and there was rarely anyone who did not atleast once in the day express his or her love for the Father of the Nation.
Art is one medium which is often used to express and drive home a message. This time it was used to pay an ode to Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. On Gandhi Jayanti, a 20 feet painting was made with a number of people working on the artwork on the open streets of Lucknow.
The 1090 crossing came alive with creativity blooming and the arts lovers turning up in large numbers to not just make a record but also observe and appreciate the beautiful tribute to Bapu.
Spearheading this arts marathon was the Saprem Sansthan who got a number of prolific artists under one roof to fill the white canvas with varied hues. Adding to the mood of the day was a larger than life clay bust of Bapu that made youngsters feel like Bapu was with them on his special day. It was a proud moment for sculptor Nand Kishor Barad.
Speaking to the media, arts curator, Bhupendra K Asthana said that led by a young team the arts fiesta was led by young artist Ashwani Kumar Prajapati who was the convenor for the event. Among the noted faces who graced the event were Amit Rajan, Dinesh, Priyanka Gupta, Ankita Singh, Arnav Mohan, Satwik Rastogi, Aman Patil, Kasifa, Sudhir Kumar and Abhishek Singh among others. Artistically speaking the creative artworks made a very specific use of water colours, mixed media, acrylic , clay and other suitable mediums. Many denizens of Lucknow turned up and even art watchers showed a keen interest in the happenings of the day.
Apart from the combined arts creation at 1090 crossing, a group of artists also dedicated a collective arts exhibition to Bapu titled Hues of Bliss. 30 children putup a very good show of posters that were deisgned and conceptualized by them. The core idea of the exhibition was unity in diversity. The event is being organized at the National level. A special portrait exhibition of the late Lal Bahadur Shastri is scheduled in Kala Srot Art Gallery.
The exhibition at the Aliganj situated art gallery was inaugurated by Vandana Sehgal, Principal and Dean at Faculty of Architecture, AKTU, Lucknow. Not only did Sehgal appreciate the efforts by the artists whose works are on display, she also gave a special shoutout to Naz Farah, who spearheads the exhibition.
According to the organizers, the core idea behind having a arts exhibit of the kind in Kalasrot was to showcase the artistic finnesse of art practitioners and create a direct connect between art and public.
Kala Srot which currently has art, paintings, photographs and other creative expressions will be on display till October 6.
This is the third edition of the Hues of Bliss exhibition. Artists in the city and beyond through their artwork have tried to send a message of peace, brotherhood, honesty, cleanliness, health and environment conversation.
