16 years after 9/11 one man shakes up New York killing 8

US President, Donald J Trump has come out earlier in the day declaring the attack in New York one that needs to be condemned unequivocally. He in most clear cut terms wrote on social media that while IS has been nipped in the bud in Syria and Iraq, it will not be allowed to spread its tentacles in the US.

Not just US President but the likes of the First Lady, the who’s who including Priyanka Chopra and most global leaders have condemned the attack in strictest of terms. Some of the international media outlets went to call it one of the deadiest attacks since the 9/11 episode.

The driver brandishing a gun in a rented truck that mowed down pedestrians and cyclists on a bike path along the Hudson river in New York killing eight. So far dozens are reported to have been injured and the man in question has been identified as Sayfullo Saipov.

Reportedly investigators have found a handwritten note where the attacker is said to have declared allegiance to Islamic State.

Living in Paterson, New Jersey Sayfullo before the attack rented the vehicle before driving it into Manhattan.

The 29-year-old was shot in the abdomen and taken into custody when he crashed the truck into a school bus and fled his vehicle.

Reports in The Associated Press described the suspect Sayfullo Saipov as calm and hard-working.

Catching Saipov has given Trump more reason to tighten the noose around immigrants. Saipov is a young immigrant from Uzbekistan

He entered U.S. legally in 2010, setting up base first in Ohio after his arrival. He lived briefly with an acquaintance Dilnoza Abdusamatova in a Cincinnati suburb upon immigrating.

Close confidantes are quoted by media saying that he was always a hard worker.

Saipov had a Florida driver’s license and some public records showed an address for him at a Tampa apartment complex.

Saipov was living recently in New Jersey, where he allegedly rented a Home Depot pickup truck an hour before driving it onto the bike path.

Uber said Saipov passed its background check and drove for the service for six months, making more than 1,400 trips.

Saipov has tried his luck at business as a commercial truck driver who formed a pair of businesses in Ohio.

Among the business ventures whose details are available are Sayf Motors Inc, Bright Auto LLC

Court records show Saipov with addresses in Paterson and the Cleveland suburbs.

He als had a warrant issued in April 2016 when he missed a hearing on a misdemeanor for not having the right brakes on his vehicle.

No social media accounts linked to Saipov emerged immediately after the attack.

A marriage license filed in Summit County, Ohio, lists a man by the name of Sayfulloh Saipov marrying Nozima Odilova on April 12, 2013.

2017 especially has been a bad year several such attacks have come to light in August, March, May, June, April

A roughly two-mile stretch of highway in downtown Manhattan was shut down for investigation.

One of the dead was from Belgium. Five were from Argentina and were celebrating the 30th anniversary of a school graduation. The injured included students and staffers on a school bus that the driver rammed.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, a Democrat, called Tuesday’s carnage a “lone wolf” attack and denied it was was part of a larger sinister plot.

New York and other cities the world over have been on high alert against attacks by extremists in vehicles. England, France and Germany have seen deadly vehicle attacks in a year.
